Battle of Rugosa

Setting the Stage

With the outbreak of the Clone Wars, the Republic works to expand its influence throughout the galaxy in order to support military operations in numerous fronts. The planet Rugosa is slated for the construction of a base, and in order to do this, Jedi Master Yoda is sent to negotiate a treaty with the local sovern, King Katuunko.

The Battle

The Seperatist movement realized the importance of the planet Rugosa as well, and dispatched their own messenger, Asajj Ventress, who arrived on the planet first with a battle group. She relayed a message from Count Dooku to the King, while Yoda's forces arrived under fire from the Seperatist warships in orbit. In order to arrive at the meeting, Yoda, along with three Clone Troopers (Lt. Thire, Jek and Rys), dropped to the planet in an escape pod, and landed, only to be confronted by a battalion and supporting armor. Confronted with their deployment, Yoda and his clones went around the unit, utilizing local cover and was able destroy several squads sent out after them. In the ensuing firefight, Lt. Thire was injured, but not enough to take him out of the fight.

Realizing that the small force was more formittable than previously thought, Ventress dispatched an armored column, where it met with Yoda in the bottom of a Canyon. Yoda was able to destroy much of the formation, while the Clone troopers covered him from the canyon rim, destroying a squad of droidkas that were sent in after the column.

Outcome

After the small force was able to destroy much of the armor and droids sent after them, King Katuuko decided to side with the Republic and was saved by Yoda when Ventress attempted to assassinate him. Republic forces returned to the system, and presumably, occupied the planet as planned.
